If your dog already has it's Junior AKC Title, or has gone through our Junior Hunt Program then it is time for the next step in it's training, The Senior Hunt Program. This program is similiar to the Junior Hunt Program in that we will train your dog in the skills necessary for it to receive it's Senior AKC Hunt Title. The skills that will be taught are much different however, and it's at this point in your dog's training when things become a bit more serious. We will be teaching your dog multiple retrieves, up to 3 birds, hand signals, and whistle commands. Once again, if you are interested we can bring your dog with us to the various hunt tests and get it Senior Titled. Contact us for details.
The following commands/skills will be taught to your dog:
- Sit Whistle - When your dog is out in the field and you blow your whistle the dog will turn around, sit, and wait for the next command.
- Hand Signals - The dog will be taught how to respond to certain hand signals and voice commands. These signals include back, right, left, here, and heel.
- Line Drills - The dog will retrieve a line of objects one at a time, starting with the most forward one or whichever one it is commanded to retrieve.
- Double and Triple Retrieves - The dog will be taught to pick up multiple retrieves in both land and water.
- Blinds - The dog will be able to be led to a bird that it did not see drop through hand signals and sit whistles.
- Honor - The dog will honor any other working dog while they are at the line preparing to get a retrieve.
