A dogs first experience with commands comes during the obedience phase of training. This phase prepares the dog for all future training sessions and gives it the desire to listen to its owner.
The following commands will be taught to your dog:
- Sit - Your dog will sit down and be ready to listen to any other commands.
- Stay - When told to stay, your dog will remain in a sitting position until commanded otherwise.
- Here - A here command will bring your dog back to your side no matter where it is or what it is doing.
- Heel - The heel command will bring your dog along the left side of your body and keep them there as you walk, hunt, etc.
- Whistle Commands - Some of the above commands will also be responded to by a whistle.

Requirements
At Duck Buster Kennels we believe that most dogs are able to learn and understand the obedience that we will teach it. Therefore, some requirements are necessary to ensure that any dog we take for obedience training is ready for it.
- A willingness to learn is essential for any skill, and obdience is no exception.
- The dog must be old enough to understand the commands. In our experience this occurs around 3 months of age and up.
- The owner must be willing to enforce the obedience commands and continue training the dog.
